How Music Affects Fashion

Music is a very big influence on fashion trends. There are many different types of music, and everyone who sings different types of music, dresses differently. This has been happening throughout history. I personally believe that, if people just listen to a certain type of music, they act and dress just like those musicians do. Two examples of music that affect fashion trends would be hip-hop/rap music, and country music.
Country music comes from more of a modern American look. It’s been around for a very long time, since the olden days, with the cow boys. Country musicians or as most call them, the cowboys, wear tighter jeans, but not skinny jeans, and some cowboy boots. Flannels are very popular in the country look. Most country men wear a cowboy hat too (http://www.ehow.com/about_6308672_music-affects-clothing-styles.html). Not only have the men of country music influenced fashion, the women have too. They usually always look very clean cut. They try to look sexy, but not too revealing.  Some examples of men in the country music industry that have influenced fashion would be Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Toby Keith. Some examples of women in the country music industry that have influenced fashion would be Shania Twain, and Faith Hill.

Hip-Hop/Rap music also has a big influence on fashion trends. Back in the 1990s, many rap artists wore extra-large T-shirts with a white undershirt. They'd also wears baggy jeans and athletic shoes. They'd also like to sport fitted baseball hats and leave the sticker on the bill with no flex. Hip-hop/rap artists loved to wear flashy, big jewelry.(http://www.ehow.com/about_6308672_music-affects-clothing-styles.html).  Many people that listened to hip-hop/ rap in the 90's also dressed a lot like this. They got these styles from such artists like Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur, and Snoop Dogg. Now a days, rap/hip-hop artists are still a huge influence on people's fashion. Some artisrts still wear those baggy clothes, but some also wear skinny jeans, but still lowered down, and a little bit of tighter shirts, not so loose. Artists that influence fashion today would be artists like Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, and Eminem. These are only the men of the hip-hop/rap industry that have influenced fashion. The women of this industry have influenced fashion also. The women's influence of fashion, is more of a sexy, and revealing look. This has been the same since women have been in the hip-hop and rap industry. Many women in the industry have influenced this look, such as Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Lil Kim, and Mya.

Music really does influence different fashion trends. When people usually listen to one certain type of music, they tend to act and dress like the influences of that music industry do. Whether you listen to country music, and dress in cowboy boots, with a flannel and maybe a cowboy hat. Or whether you listen to hip-hop/rap music and dress with some baggy jeans or some skinny jeans, rockin' a fitted cap, and a pair of jordan. Every certain type of music, influences the way people dress themselves. The celebrities of these industries make different trends, that all their fans love to follow. So, they can look "cool" like the stars.
